It is a deciduous tree, characterized by high vigor, excellent consistent productivity, and remarkable longevity. It can reach a height of up to 10 meters and has a short, light gray trunk with numerous branches. The leaves are large and oblong, dark green on the upper surface and lighter green on the underside.
The fruit ripens between late September and early October and is spherical in shape, with a slightly elongated top. The skin is a beautiful black-purple color, while the flesh is fleshy, a delicate light pink color, and very sweet. This fig variety is highly prized and can be eaten both fresh and dried, as well as being ideal for making jams.
The Brogiotto Black Fig shrub is hardy and tolerates low temperatures well, although spring frosts could damage the branches and trunk. It prefers sunny locations, but can also tolerate partial shade.
